A 4-Week Dutch Speaking Plan You Can Run in ChickyTutor

A Dutch speaking plan built around ChickyTutor voice sessions: practical roleplays, one focused correction, repeated answers, and weekly fluency goals.

A 4-Week Dutch Speaking Plan You Can Run in ChickyTutor

This plan is for the Dutch learner who can understand more than they can say. You may understand messages, podcasts, or class explanations, but still switch to English when a real Dutch conversation starts.

The missing step is not more passive study. It is a private speaking loop: answer out loud, get one focused correction, repeat the corrected sentence, and answer a related follow-up. Use this article as a ChickyTutor session script, not just as reading material.

Open Learn Dutch and start with:

I am A2-B1 in Dutch. Run a short voice roleplay. Ask one question at a time, correct only one mistake that blocks my answer, make me repeat the corrected Dutch sentence, then ask a related follow-up.

Week 1: Small Answers Without Translation

Goal: answer simple questions before your brain builds the whole sentence in English.

Run this ChickyTutor session four times:

Ask me five short Dutch questions about my day. Keep them A1-A2. Correct only word order and make me repeat each natural answer before the next question.

Good topics:

  • introducing yourself to a neighbor
  • making an appointment
  • ordering coffee
  • asking where something is
  • talking about your day

Success this week means one or two answers come out faster. It does not mean every ending, word choice, or pronunciation detail is perfect.

Week 2: One Pattern Per Session

Choose one target each day:

  • verb-second word order
  • short natural replies
  • g/ch pronunciation
  • question formation

Then ask:

Roleplay making an appointment in Dutch. Correct only verb-second word order. Give me the corrected sentence first, then make me repeat it.

If ChickyTutor gives too much explanation, redirect it:

Keep the explanation short. I need the natural sentence, one reason, and one follow-up question.

Week 3: Repair Phrases

Goal: stay in Dutch when you miss a word or question.

Ask ChickyTutor to practice conversation recovery:

Start a Dutch conversation and deliberately ask me one question I might not understand. Help me use repair phrases instead of switching to English, then make me repeat the repaired answer.

Useful repair moves:

  • I do not understand.
  • Can you repeat that?
  • More slowly, please.
  • How do you say ... in Dutch?
  • I want to say ...
  • I am speaking slowly because I am learning Dutch.

Week 4: Real-Life Roleplays

Choose one situation per day:

  • introducing yourself to a neighbor
  • making an appointment
  • ordering coffee
  • asking where something is
  • talking about your day
  • explaining why you are learning Dutch
  • asking someone to repeat

Use this prompt:

Roleplay this Dutch situation with me. Ask one question at a time. Correct only the mistake that blocks communication, make me repeat the better sentence, then continue the scene.

For each roleplay, do three passes: slow, corrected, then more natural. Save your best corrected answer and bring it into the next ChickyTutor session.

15-Minute Daily Template

  • 2 minutes: tell ChickyTutor today's target
  • 5 minutes: one roleplay
  • 4 minutes: corrections and repetition
  • 2 minutes: pronunciation cleanup
  • 2 minutes: repeat your best answer from memory

FAQ

Is A2 enough to start speaking Dutch with ChickyTutor?

Yes. A2 is enough when the session is short, controlled, and built around one correction target.

What should ChickyTutor correct first?

Start with the mistake that makes you freeze: verb-second word order, short natural replies, g/ch pronunciation, question formation.

Why use ChickyTutor for this plan?

Because ChickyTutor turns the plan into live spoken practice: you answer, get corrected, repeat, and continue with a follow-up.

How often should I practice?

Ten to fifteen minutes a day is enough if you repeat corrected Dutch sentences out loud.
