Use these Hindi roleplays with a tutor, partner, or voice practice tool. Each starter uses a polite form suitable for speaking to an unfamiliar adult. Transliteration is approximate, so listen to a proficient speaker when pronunciation matters.

Copy the prompt, begin with the Hindi line, and finish the scene before asking for corrections.

1. Order tea and breakfast

Prompt: Act as a server in a small cafe. Speak clear, natural Hindi. Ask what I want, offer two breakfast items, and answer a question about spice. Do not translate unless I ask.

Starter: मुझे एक चाय और नाश्ते में कुछ हल्का चाहिए।

Transliteration: Mujhe ek chaay aur naashte mein kuchh halka chaahiye.

Meaning: I would like a tea and something light for breakfast.

Twist: The first dish I choose is unavailable.

2. Ask for a train ticket

Prompt: Act as a railway ticket clerk. Ask for my destination, travel date, preferred time, and seat type. Give me two realistic options.

Starter: मुझे कल जयपुर जाने के लिए एक टिकट चाहिए।

Transliteration: Mujhe kal Jaipur jaane ke liye ek ticket chaahiye.

Meaning: I need a ticket to Jaipur for tomorrow.

Twist: The direct train is full.

3. Find the right bus stop

Prompt: Act as a local person giving directions. Tell me how to reach the correct bus stop one step at a time, then ask me to repeat the directions.

Starter: माफ़ कीजिए, रेलवे स्टेशन जाने वाली बस कहाँ से मिलेगी?

Transliteration: Maaf kijiye, railway station jaane waali bus kahaan se milegi?

Meaning: Excuse me, where can I get the bus to the railway station?

Twist: The usual stop has temporarily moved.

4. Exchange a shirt

Prompt: Act as a shop assistant. I want to exchange a shirt for another size. Ask for the receipt and explain the choices politely.

Starter: मैं यह कमीज़ दूसरी साइज़ में बदलना चाहता/चाहती हूँ।

Transliteration: Main yah kameez doosri size mein badalna chaahta/chaahti hoon.

Meaning: I would like to exchange this shirt for another size.

Twist: My size is available only in a different colour.

5. Explain a minor problem at a pharmacy

Prompt: Act as a pharmacist. Ask how I feel, when the problem started, and whether I have allergies. Stay within basic pharmacy conversation and recommend medical care if needed.

Starter: मुझे दो दिन से गले में दर्द है।

Transliteration: Mujhe do din se gale mein dard hai.

Meaning: I have had a sore throat for two days.

Twist: I cannot take one common medicine.

6. Check in at a hotel

Prompt: Act as a hotel receptionist. Ask for my name, identification, and booking details. Explain breakfast time and checkout time.

Starter: नमस्ते, मेरे नाम से एक कमरा बुक है।

Transliteration: Namaste, mere naam se ek kamra book hai.

Meaning: Hello, a room is booked in my name.

Twist: The booking shows the wrong number of nights.

7. Make plans with a friend

Prompt: Act as a Hindi-speaking friend. Suggest two things to do on Sunday, discuss time and transport, and help us agree on a plan.

Starter: क्या आप रविवार को मेरे साथ फ़िल्म देखने चलेंगे/चलेंगी?

Transliteration: Kya aap ravivaar ko mere saath film dekhne chalenge/chalengi?

Twist: The evening show is sold out.

8. Introduce yourself at work

Prompt: Act as a new colleague. Ask about my role, where I am from, and what I am working on. Keep the exchange friendly and professional.

10. Ask about a course

Prompt: Act as a staff member at a language school. Ask about my level, goals, and schedule, then explain two course times.

Transliteration: Aaj raat khaane par ek mehmaan aur aa rahe hain.

Meaning: One more guest is coming for dinner tonight.

Twist: The guest does not eat dairy products.
