Phone Call Dutch: Scripts for Making Appointments (Huisarts, Gemeente, Dentist)

The hardest mode: phone calls. Use these scripts and drills to stop freezing.

Phone Call Dutch: Appointments at the Huisarts, Gemeente, or Tandarts

A Dutch appointment call needs a clear purpose, a repair phrase, and an accurate confirmation. The organization decides what information and process are required, so use these as language scaffolds rather than administrative instructions.

Open and state the purpose

  • Goedemorgen, u spreekt met [naam]. — Good morning, this is [name].
  • Ik bel om een afspraak te maken. — I am calling to make an appointment.
— I would like to make a GP appointment.
— I have a question about my municipal appointment.
— I would like to schedule a dental check-up.

Ask, repair, and confirm

— Do you have an opening on [day]?
  • Dat tijdstip lukt helaas niet. — Unfortunately, that time does not work.
  • Kunt u dat nog een keer zeggen? — Can you say that again?
  • Kunt u de datum spellen of herhalen? — Can you spell or repeat the date?
— So the appointment is on [date] at [time], is that correct?

Use invented placeholders during AI practice. Do not supply a real BSN, patient number, address, or medical details. Check the huisarts, gemeente, or tandarts website for its actual booking route and required documents.

Practise one rejected time

Ask ChickyTutor for Dutch to offer an unsuitable time, repeat one date at natural speed, and wait for you to confirm it. Request one wording issue to verify after the call. ChickyTutor can vary the receptionist's answer; it cannot book the appointment or determine medical urgency, municipal eligibility, fees, or required identification.
