Spanish Conversation Practice: 12 Copyable Roleplay Scenarios

These Spanish roleplays make you solve a small problem rather than recite a memorized dialogue. Copy a prompt into your preferred tutor or practice it with a partner. Start with the suggested line, keep the exchange in Spanish, and do not look up every word mid-conversation.

For a useful correction loop, finish each scene before asking for feedback. Then correct one or two recurring mistakes and repeat the hardest part.

1. Order breakfast at a busy cafe

Copyable prompt: Act as a server in a busy cafe in Madrid. Speak natural but beginner-friendly Spanish. Ask for my order, offer two choices, and answer one question about ingredients. Do not translate unless I ask.

Start with: “Buenos días. Quisiera un café con leche y una tostada, por favor.”

Twist: The cafe has run out of the first thing you order.

2. Fix a hotel booking

Copyable prompt: Act as a hotel receptionist. My reservation exists, but the room type is wrong. Ask for my name, dates, and preferred solution. Keep the conversation polite and realistic.

Start with: “Hola, tengo una reserva a nombre de…”

Twist: Only a different room is available for the first night.

3. Ask for directions after missing a stop

Copyable prompt: Act as a local person at a bus stop. I missed my stop and need to reach the city centre. Give directions one step at a time and ask me to confirm what I understood.

Start with: “Perdone, ¿cómo puedo llegar al centro desde aquí?”

Twist: The direct bus is not running.

4. Return the wrong item

Copyable prompt: Act as a shop assistant. I bought the wrong size yesterday and want to exchange it. Ask for the receipt and explain the available options.

Twist: My preferred size is available only in another colour.

5. Explain a minor health problem

7. Join workplace small talk

Copyable prompt: Act as a colleague before a meeting. Ask about my commute, current work, and plans after work. Keep the tone friendly rather than formal.

Twist: The meeting time changes during the conversation.

8. Book a table by phone

Copyable prompt: Act as a restaurant host taking a phone booking. Ask for the day, time, number of people, name, and one dietary requirement.

Twist: The requested time is full, so offer two alternatives.

9. Report a lost bag

Copyable prompt: Act as an employee at a train station information desk. Ask me to describe my missing bag, where I last saw it, and how you can contact me.

Make each roleplay harder

Repeat one scene three times. In round one, read the starter line. In round two, say the same idea in your own words. In round three, ask your partner to change one fact without warning. That progression tests whether you can rebuild the sentence rather than remember a script.
