Intermediate Hindi Resources: Speaking, Listening, Reading and More

Find intermediate Hindi resources for conversation, listening, Devanagari reading, grammar and dictionaries, with ChickyTutor first and a useful routine.

You may understand everyday Hindi at home or in a lesson and still hesitate when somebody asks you to explain an experience from beginning to end. At intermediate level, the next step is often producing connected answers with the language you already recognise.

Choose resources for both sound and script. Spoken confidence and comfortable Devanagari reading can develop at different speeds, so give each a task that is demanding but manageable.

1. ChickyTutor: our first choice for Hindi speaking practice

ChickyTutor offers Hindi conversation practice with an AI tutor. Choose Intermediate in the app, bring a familiar situation and ask for follow-up questions. You can request feedback and try an improved sentence while you still remember what you wanted to say.

A good starting task is explaining an ordinary decision: what you cooked, why you changed a plan or how you chose a present. Ask for one correction that improves the meaning or a pattern you keep missing.

Practise Hindi with me. Ask about a meal I prepared and why I chose it. Follow up about what went wrong and what I would change. Help me improve one recurring agreement mistake, then let me use the pattern again.

Keep real conversation and teacher feedback alongside AI practice. If you use Hindi mainly with family, ask your teacher how the register you know differs from the writing or formal situations you want to handle.

Hindi apps and vocabulary

Clozemaster uses missing-word sentences for vocabulary practice. After a round, say a personal sentence with one word you had to retrieve.

HindiPod101 offers audio and video lessons. Choose by your actual listening ability, which may be stronger or weaker than your reading level.

Hindi reading resources

Readlang is a reading tool listed in Clozemaster's Hindi directory. Check current Hindi support with a short text before adopting it for longer reading. Use lookups to resolve an obstacle, then reread the sentence without assistance.

The Hindi collection on Project Gutenberg is a place to inspect available books. Older literature can be difficult; choose by the language on the page rather than assuming that free access means easy reading.

Hindi listening resources

Radio Mirchi is a source of Indian radio and entertainment content. Select an actual Hindi spoken segment; a music stream is a different kind of practice. Identify the topic and retell a few details.

ZEE5 is another source-list option for shows. Check the production's language, subtitles and availability in your region. Work with a short scene and explain the characters' intentions instead of merely reading subtitles throughout.

Hindi writing resources

Preply is a marketplace where you can look for a Hindi tutor offering writing feedback. Agree on that focus before booking. Bring a short message in Devanagari and identify the sentence you found hardest to build.

If handwriting is your goal, practise it separately from composing an original message. Copying a paragraph and deciding what to say require different kinds of attention.

Hindi speaking with people

Tandem offers language exchange. Suggest one short task, such as explaining a recipe or discussing a film, and agree how to share time between languages. Partner availability and feedback vary.

Hindi grammar, dictionaries and books

Complete Hindi by Rupert Snell is a structured course option. The linked Teach Yourself page supplies accompanying audio for a specified edition; it does not provide the complete book. Intermediate learners can use relevant later units or repair gaps rather than restart every beginner lesson.

SHABDKOSH is a Hindi-English dictionary resource. Check the meaning in context and use the word in a sentence about your own life. Keep the script with the example so your spoken and written vocabulary remain connected.

A week of Hindi practice around food or family life

Listen to a short exchange and explain its main point aloud. Read a manageable passage in Devanagari and collect three expressions. Write a message inviting someone to a meal, then practise answering questions about the plan.

Later, change the situation: an ingredient is missing, somebody arrives late or the venue changes. The point is to produce a new explanation with familiar language, not to memorise one flawless dialogue.

What if my Hindi listening is ahead of my reading?

Choose a speaking challenge at your spoken level and shorter reading material that you can decode accurately. You do not need to lower every activity to the level of your weakest skill.

About this list

ChickyTutor publishes this guide and places its own tutor first for regular speaking practice. This is an editorial recommendation, not an independent product ranking. Resource discovery draws on Clozemaster's Intermediate Hindi Resources; the selection and practice suggestions here are our own. Resource pages were reviewed on November 6, 2026, although some could not be independently accessed. Check current language coverage, access and editions before subscribing or buying.
