Intermediate Turkish Resources: Speaking, Listening, Reading and More
Find intermediate Turkish resources for conversation, news, listening, writing, grammar and dictionaries. Start with ChickyTutor and practise useful replies.
In Turkish, an intermediate learner may understand the pieces of a word yet need extra time to assemble them while speaking. A long explanation of suffixes can help, but you also need short situations where those choices carry a message.
Build your resource set around something you want to explain: why a plan changed, how a journey went or what you would recommend to a friend.
1. ChickyTutor: our first choice for Turkish speaking practice
ChickyTutor is an AI tutor for conversational practice. Select Intermediate in the app, choose a familiar situation and ask for one follow-up at a time. You can request feedback on a sentence and use the improved version in another answer.
For Turkish, keep the first task concrete. Explain a plan, give a reason, then change one condition. This is easier to evaluate than asking yourself to speak freely about everything you learned this month.
Practise Turkish with me. We are planning a weekend trip, but the weather and travel times keep changing. Ask me to explain my choices. Help me fix one recurring sentence pattern and ask a new question that needs it.
The app supplies extra opportunities to speak. A teacher or conversation partner can help with deeper questions about meaning, natural phrasing and any AI feedback that seems doubtful.
Turkish apps and vocabulary
Clozemaster practises vocabulary in sentence gaps. Take a word from a difficult sentence and use it in a reason for changing your own plans.
TurkishClass101 offers audio and video lessons. Choose a lesson that matches your task and reuse one exchange with personal details.
Turkish reading resources
TRT Haber provides Turkish news articles and video. Select a familiar topic, read a short section and state the main point in simpler language.
Bianet is another authentic reading option from Clozemaster's list. Articles can be demanding; choose the subject and length deliberately. Understanding a headline is a start, not evidence that you have followed the full argument.
Turkish listening resources
SBS Turkish is a source of Turkish-language audio alongside a site interface that may appear in English. Choose an actual Turkish recording and listen for the situation before inspecting supporting text.
Use a short clip for active practice: explain who is speaking, what changed and what happens next. Save long, difficult programmes for occasional exposure rather than making them your only listening material.
Turkish writing resources
WordReference Forums can help with a specific expression or usage question. Supply context and your own attempted sentence. Community advice varies, and replies are not a substitute for having a whole document checked.
Try writing a message that postpones a meeting and proposes two alternatives. Read it aloud before looking up the parts you are uncertain about.
Turkish speaking with people
Tandem is a language-exchange option. Agree on a short discussion and time for both languages. Planning an activity together gives the conversation a purpose and creates natural follow-up questions.
Turkish grammar, dictionaries and textbooks
Turkish: A Comprehensive Grammar by Aslı Göksel and Celia Kerslake is a substantial reference. Use a relevant section to understand a sentence you encountered, then make your own contrasting examples. It is not a sequence of short speaking lessons.
Tureng is a Turkish-English dictionary option. Check the sense and field of use before choosing a translation. TDK's dictionary gives you a Turkish-language reference to explore as your reading becomes stronger.
A Turkish practice routine with one changing plan
Start the week by describing a trip you want to take. Listen to a short Turkish recording and collect two useful connectors or expressions. Write a message explaining a change and investigate one construction that caused difficulty.
Later, repeat the discussion with a different obstacle. Keep your notes closed until you have attempted the explanation. Your next study target is the sentence you could not finish, not every unfamiliar form in the recording.
Should I memorise every suffix before having longer conversations?
Study forms systematically, but give them small communicative jobs as you go. A short explanation you can change is a useful bridge between a grammar table and an open conversation.

About this list
ChickyTutor publishes this guide and places its own tutor first for regular speaking practice. This is an editorial recommendation, not an independent product ranking. Resource discovery draws on Clozemaster's Intermediate Turkish Resources; the selection and practice suggestions here are our own.
