Meet Impromptu

The best part is when you find the words.

You know that moment when a conversation leaves the script? Impromptu helps you practise it: one question, your spoken answer, and feedback on how to make your point.

  1. 01

    Pick a topic.

Choose the language you’re learning and your level. Shuffle the topics, generate one, or write your own.

  2. 02

    Give it a go.

Answer out loud for up to 90 seconds. Take your time before you start. Once you’re speaking, the floor is yours.

  3. 03

    Find your next take.

Read your transcript and feedback. Pick one thing to work on, then answer the same topic again when you’re ready.

Put the language you’re learning into words.

Follow an intermediate French learner from a spoken answer to language feedback. The words and scores are sample data, shown in the real ChickyTutor interface.

Example recording

Find the words in French.

Tell a story in the language you’re learning. Your topic stays on screen, and you choose a level that fits you.

Example feedback report

See where your French can improve.

Spot a grammar mistake, find a more natural phrase, and check your pronunciation. Here, the learner practises ‘je suis allé’ after saying ‘j’ai allé’.

Show the bit between “I’m learning” and “I can.”

A real attempt gives people something to relate to. Here are three ways to make it your own.

01 / The honest first take

“I know the words. Can I actually use them?”

Pick a topic you haven’t rehearsed. Show a short clip of your answer and the feedback that surprised you.

02 / Take one, take two

“I changed one thing. Listen to the difference.”

Keep the topic. Choose one suggestion from your report and try again. Let your audience hear what changed.

03 / Let your audience choose

“Give me a topic. I’ll answer in French.”

Ask viewers for a topic, type it into Impromptu, and give your answer in the language you’re learning.

Use your own camera or screen recorder for your video. Share the parts you’re comfortable sharing, and keep the results honest.

Make it personal

Which language
is your story in?

The one you’re learning for a move, a person, a job, or simply because you love the sound of it.

Before your first take

A few practical details.

Do I need to be fluent?

No. Choose your current level so the language feedback fits your practice. Finding a word, making a mistake, and trying again are all part of the story.

What feedback will I get?

You’ll get a transcript, delivery measures such as pauses and repetition, and feedback on your message, grammar, and vocabulary. Pronunciation feedback is included when available for your recording and language.

Does ChickyTutor record or post my video?

Impromptu records your spoken answer for analysis. To make a video, use your own camera or screen recorder. You choose what to share and publish it yourself.

Do I have to join the affiliate program?

No. You can try Impromptu and share your experience without joining. If you’d like to recommend ChickyTutor through the affiliate program, you can read the offer and terms on the affiliate page.

Is Impromptu free to try?

A limited free practice allowance is available. Your account and recent use determine the attempts available to you. The same practice limits apply when you arrive from this page.

Your turn

Give your audience something to try, too.

Start with your own answer. Then invite your viewers to pick a topic and find their words.
